Daily Update – Jan 10

Governor Asa Hutchinson addressed a Joint Session of the General Assembly this morning. In his State of the State address, the Governor highlighted our growing population and growing economy.

In his legislative proposals for this session, he is asking for support for tax reductions including an exemption for retired military members who receive a pension.

He also proposed creating a task force to explore further tax reform.

The Governor reiterated his support for a program which would offer grants to pay tuition to a two year college or technical school to Arkansans pursuing a field of study in a career with high demand in the state.

Committees will begin their work tomorrow morning at 10.  The House is set to convene at 1:30 tomorrow afternoon.  The House streams all proceedings in the Chamber and all committees held inside the Capitol building on our website www.arkansashouse.org.
