On Thursday, the House passed HB1462. This bill clarifies the definition of “unaccompanied homeless youth” to mean an individual between the ages of 16 and 22 who is not in the physical custody of a parent or guardian. This includes a young person who has either run away from home, forced to leave his or her home, or whose parents have left the area.
The definition will allow a school’s liaison for homeless children and youth to provide additional support. HB1462 also waives fees for identification, driver’s license, and birth certificates for unaccompanied homeless youth.
The House also passed the following:
- HB1261. This bill would mandate insurance coverage for an ambulance service to triage, treat, and transport a patient to an alternative destination such as an urgent care clinic.
- SB295-This bill seeks to create the Cost-Shifting Prevention Act of 2023 by addressing the rates paid customer-owned net-metering facilities.
- HB1511. This bill states that by January 1, 2029, every school bus owned or operated by a school shall have an electronic child safety alarm system installed.
