Daily Update – Feb 2

As we end the 4th week of the Regular Session, 79 bills have been signed into law. More than 1,700 bills have been filed to so far.

The House Public Health, Welfare, and Labor Committee advanced HB1280, a bill which would prohibit teenagers from using tanning equipment. Currently, the law allows parental consent for teenagers to use the equipment. This bill would do away with that exemption.

The House Public Transportation Committee advanced legislation which allows images gathered from an automated school bus camera to be used in court.

In a vote of 71-22, the House approved HB1249 which would require public universities and colleges to allow faculty and staff with concealed carry permits to carry firearms on campus.
