Daily Update – Feb 8

Today is the deadline to file proposed constitutional amendments.  Several new proposals have been filed by House members this afternoon.  The Constitutional Amendment Subcommittee will be holding meetings in the next few weeks to hear all of the resolutions.

Meanwhile, several bills addressing medical marijuana are now making their way to the House floor. The House Rules committee voted in favor of a bill to require tax revenues from medical marijuana be used to first repay the state for the programs which administer and enforce medical marijuana regulations. The remaining funds would be directed to general revenue.

The committee advanced legislation allowing the Medical Marijuana Commission to regulate advertising and marketing.

Other legislation advancing today addresses criminal background checks for applicants and the licensing for transporters of medical marijuana.

The House will reconvene on Thursday at 1:30 pm.
