Several developments at the Capitol today including the announcement of a special session and the election for the next Speaker of the House.
Shortly after officially adjourning from the 2018 Fiscal Session, members elected Rep. Matthew Shepherd of El Dorado as Speaker-designate. He will be sworn in as Speaker of the 92nd General Assembly in January.
Rep. Shepherd is serving his 4th term in the House and currently chairs the House Judiciary Committee.
In another development, the Governor issued a proclamation calling for an Extraordinary Session. There are 9 items on listed on the proclamation including the licensure of pharmacy benefit managers, tax deferred tuition savings programs, and modification of ADEQ permits for liquid animal waste management systems.
