Daily Update – Mar 8

On Wednesday, the House passed HB1175 which requires a lifetime registration on the Arkansas Sex Offender Registry for a person convicted of rape by forcible compulsion.

The House also passed HB1919, the Volunteer Health Care Act. This allows physicians to receive one hour of continuing education credit if he or she performs 8 hours of work in a volunteer clinic.

And the House Aging, Children and Youth, Legislative and Military Affairs Committee passed three pieces of legislation concerning rights of grandparents including HB1773 which outlines conditions for visitation rights to a grandparent when the parent of a child is deceased.

The House will reconvene Thursday at 1:30pm.
