Governor’s Press Conference – April 30

Governor’s press conference today, THURSDAY APRIL 30th, 2020:

🔘 3,255 total cases. Up 63 from yesterday.

🔘 Gym and Fitness Center Reopening May 4:

🔘 Team/Youth sports and summer athletics are still prohibited until May 31st. We are taking another close look at them in mid-late May.

🔘 Please take this seriously. Don’t relax just because things are opening. Take necessary precautions so we do not have to retreat.

DR NATE SMITH, SEC OF ADH:

📍Out of 3,255 total cases:
1,888 are active
1,305 are recovered
95 currently hospitalized
23 currently on ventilators
2 new deaths (61 total)
22 of total deaths have been nursing
home related

📍2,520 tests performed yesterday:
2,079 done by commercial labs
190 done by ADH Lab
251 done by UAMS
1.5% positivity rate

📍Cummins hospitalization update:
13 hospitalized
3 on ventilators
No new cases

📍Forrest City Fed Correctional
Institute:
14 news cases
101 inmates are positive

📍Since elective procedures have resumed, hospitals have seen a challenge in meeting the 48 hr testing requirement. AEL Laboratories have stepped up to help. Starting next week, they will increase their testing capacity to 1,500 tests daily with 1,000 of those tests reserved for AR hospitals with a 24-30 hr turnaround time.

📍They have plan put together on how to implement guidelines and open their doors again. Three main parts. are:
1️⃣ Touchless experience
2️⃣ Maintain social distancing
3️⃣ Sanitization

📍They will have “Health Guards” to ensure members have access to hand sanitizer, antibacterial wipes, etc while they are working out.
