The COPS Hiring Program has recently opened for FY2020. This program, administered by the US Department of Justice Community Oriented Policing Services Office, is open to all state and local law enforcement agencies with primary law enforcement authority. Funding from this program may be used to:
· hire new officers (including school resource officers, for which additional consideration will be given for school based policing)
· rehire officers previously laid off or scheduled to be laid off as a result of budget reductions
