Daily Update – Feb 13

The House has now entered its 6th week of the Regular Session.

On Monday, the House voted in favor of HB1427 which requires anyone running for a state office to file their campaign reports electronically through a new system with the Secretary of State’s office. Exceptions are provided for those without sufficient technology.
Once the system is up and running, it will provide the public with a searchable data base.

The House also voted in favor of legislation which would allow physicians to treat patients through the use of telemedicine. This bill removes previous restrictions that required an in-person meeting prior to the use of a computer or smart phone.

However, HB1437 does require authorization from a child’s primary-care physician before telemedicine can be used in schools.

The House also passed legislation requiring that licenses for dispensaries or cultivation facilities for medical marijuana be issued only in the name of a person with ownership in the facility and not a corporation.

The House will reconvene at 1:30pm on Tuesday.
