More than 100 bills have been filed in the last two days. This means committees will be hearing and voting on more legislation in the days and weeks ahead.
The House State Agencies Committee advanced a bill requiring voters to present photo identification at the polling place. HB1047 would allow those without a photo ID to cast a provisional ballot. The provisional ballot would be counted if the individual presents the necessary identification to the county clerk or election board by noon on the Monday following the election.
The House Committee for City, County, and Local Affairs voted in favor of legislation to allow municipalities to fill a vacancy for recorder-treasurer by a council vote at the first meeting after the vacancy occurs. The committee also advanced legislation allowing cities and municipalities to accept competitive bids electronically as well as written.
The House will reconvene on Thursday at 1:30.
