Dave Donaldson Black River WMA Update

For those wanting more information about the proposed changes to the Dave Donaldson Black River WMA here is some information.

The Arkansas Game and Fish have heard the concerns with management practices and proposals on the Dave Donaldson Black River WMA. The staff and Commissioners have heard many of these concerns loudly and clearly.

These concerns have largely stemmed from a presentation during our Commission meeting last week in Jonesboro where an update was provided to Commissioners and the public regarding the status of the Dave Donaldson WMA renovation. Because of this concern and some inaccurate information being put out on social media, Arkansas Game and Fish wanted to make sure people can hear directly from us about the plan and ask questions in a virtual meeting to be held tomorrow evening (12/7/23) from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

They want to be very clear, this is not the only meeting they will have on Dave Donaldson, but it’s the beginning of a series of meetings they plan on having to discuss this with the public. In the near future, they will have several in-person meetings in Northeast Arkansas to discuss and answer additional questions about this project.

Arkansas Game and Fish’s goal is the same as many of the waterfowl hunters they’ve heard from in the past week: to ensure habitat is healthy and can support wildlife for future generations, and to provide hunting opportunities at Dave Donaldson WMA. They hope you will join them virtually this evening as they discuss the future of waterfowl hunting in Northeast Arkansas.

Please use the link below to view the meeting beginning at 6 and lasting until 7:30 p.m. Thursday, December 7th.

Questions can be submitted as early as 5:30 p.m. through email at waterfowlinfo@agfc.ar.gov or through text at 501-604-3847.
