Governor’s press conference today, TUESDAY APRIL 21st, 2020:
? 2,227 total cases. Up 304 from yesterday. 262 of those are from Cummins. 42 from general state population.
? Signed Executive Order creating a working group to focus on testing capacity in AR.
DR NATE SMITH, SEC OF ADH:
?Out of 2,227 total cases:
1,375 are active
809 have recovered
86 currently hospitalized
27 currently on ventilators
1 new death (43 total)
249 have been healthcare workers
135 have been nursing home residents
29 nursing homes have active investigations
?7 new positive nursing home residents:
3 from facility in Batesville
2 from Willow bend
1 from Randolph Co Nursing Home
1 from Village at Valley Ranch
?4 new positive nursing home staff:
1 Waters of White Hall
1 Allay Health and Rehab
1 Crestpark of Wynne
1 Village at Valley Ranch
?Cummins Unit as of 10pm yesterday:
670 inmate positives
10 staff positives
All inmates have been tested, not all results received yet
Now testing all staff
GOOD NEWS:
1️⃣ When prisoner positives are removed
from total #, our cases are going down. Last week, we
averaged 70 cases a day. This week we are averaging about half that a day.
2️⃣ The counties with over 100 cases are all on downward trend.
3️⃣ Although the # of positives from Cummins is alarming, it is the best setting to have that # of positives. It is a controlled setting where it’s easy to separate positives from negatives.
